Complex Thinking and Sustainable Social Development: Validity and Reliability of the COMPLEX-21 Scale

Thinking skills are essential to achieve sustainable social development. Nonetheless, there is no specific instrument that assesses all of these as a whole. The present study aimed design and validate scale assess complex thinking in adult people. A 22 items assessing the following aspects: analysis problem solving, critical analysis, metacognition, systemic creativity, five levels, was created. This validated 626 university students from Peru. In total, 16 experts field helped determine content validity (Aiken’s V value higher than 0.8). confirmatory factor allowed evaluation structure factors theoretically proposed goodness fit indexes satisfactory. An item eliminated during process resulted 21 items. composite reliability for different ranged between 0.794 0.867. invariance genders also checked concurrent proved. concludes validity, construct levels COMPLEX-21 appropriate.
